SECTION III
AMLEV IS FULFILLED DREAM OF ENGINEERS
With its design based on the use of permanent magnets and steel cores and utilizing ideas of self-regulation presented above, Amlev is a completely new type of Maglev (Fig. 1).
The sources of magnetic field are rare-earth permanent magnets Crumax and magnetized steel cores. Amlev stator’s winding is powered by sinusoidal current of constant frequency.
Rejecting attempts to build engineering systems of permanent magnets and steel cores is a consequence of an erroneous application of Ernshaw’s theorem [2]. Research in this direction grounded to a halt. This was unfortunate since it meant rejecting the unique result of the theory of stability and the most effective way of producing internal magnetic forces. In fact, these theorems are valid only for magnetized bodies with constant magnetic permeability, but steel magnetic permeability depends tremendously on field intensity.
A detailed description of Amlev is provided in [3-7]. Here we present only brief description of its devices, their peculiarities, and interactions within the system.
Amlev consists of three interconnected subsystems:
- magneto-dynamic suspension [3,6];
- linear motor based on permanent magnets [4,7];
- conventional power system.

All parts of Amlev are absolutely different from those in existing types of Maglev.
